The U.S and its allies have been engaging in missile tracking drills in the past two days. These drills follow further rising tensions in the region as North Korea launched a missile on the 30th whih proved capable of hitting the U.S mainland. With the success of that launch the North Koreans announced their weapons system as complete. This new turn of events has forced the U.S and others to go back to the drawing board in terms of policy against North Korea going forward. For now however President Trump has had little to say on the issue, saying simply "We will take care of it". These most recent drills though have garnered criticism from a top Russian military official who fears that increased military exercise will only create more trouble in the region. This warning is strange considering that Russia and China are at the same time holding their own joint anti-ballistic missile defense exercise. The Chinese have released a statement without a hint of irony saying that, "China and Russia oppose the development of a global anti-missile system and the cooperation on the anti-missile field would help protect both countries’ security as well as the regional strategic balance,”.
